About this place
Choju-ya is as much an option for a daytime bowl of soup as it is for an evening around the barbecue. This Korean barbecue restaurant offers meat dishes alongside Korean meals, with set lunches including kalbi for ¥2,000 and kalbi with harami for ¥2,200. For a more substantial barbecue lunch, there are set meals combining cuts such as kalbi and loin. One diner who tried the kalbi set meal praised the savoury flavour of the meat. Rice is available in large, medium and small portions, so you can choose a size to suit your appetite.
Tofu jjigae is another lunch option beyond the barbecue. One lunchtime diner enjoyed the rich soup, which came with plenty of tofu, and particularly liked adding Japanese pepper to finish it. The cold noodles come in a light broth, while bibim cold noodles are served without broth, tossed in a sweet-and-spicy sauce. Choose between a refreshing finish and noodles coated in a more robust sauce.
Kimchi is another dish that diners have remembered fondly. The menu includes a trio of napa cabbage, daikon and cucumber kimchi, ideal for dipping into between bites of meat. For Korean pancakes, options include a large pajeon with seafood and garlic chives, as well as a chewy potato pancake made with potato alone. For a meal to share, consider bulgogi or a meat platter served with a lettuce-wrap set, adding kimchi or namul on the side for variety.
